Pro Football
The National Football League was formed in 1920 in Canton, Ohio. It started out with 11 teams when it was formed. All the teams had to pay was just 100$ to get into the league. But proffessional football in the 1920s was in disarray. They could barly sell tickets to football games because not much people cared about the sport, even though it gained alot more popularity in the 1920s than earlier. Any teammate in one game could be on another team the next game. True prosperity didnt come until 1925 when Tim Mara paid 2500$ for the football team named the New York Giants, even though he hadnt seen a football game in his life. He got a stadium with 70,000 seats which paid off very well, and helped boost popularity for the sport.
